Tax Accountant

FORTAX is seeking a qualified Accountant with former experience to join our team. We are looking for an innovative Accountant who is passionate about raising the standard for tax preparation for financial advisors’ clients.

About the Role

As a newly registered mutual fund dealer, we are looking for a CA/CPA who is seeking new challenges. The ideal candidate will be eager to assist Financial Advisors’ clients along with the firm accounting needs. The accountant will provide ongoing support with tax returns and tax reduction advice. In addition, this position will compile, analyze, verify and prepare tax returns, financial statements for the firm’s clients. Finally, the accountant will provide tailored advice to clients and refer them to our investment and insurance specialist to recommend products that will improve their finance and increase their net worth.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the goals mentioned above, the duties and responsibilities of the accountant include, but are not limited to:

  • Review Tax Returns /Supervise Tax Preparers Work
  • Manage and support the tax preparers team during the tax season
  • Meet with clients to explain complex tax situations
  • Advice clients about tax reduction strategies
  • Refer clients to our in-house financial services to grow clients’ net worth
  • Guide clients whether using salary vs dividends, incorporation vs sole-proprietorship
  • Manage all forms of communication including phone and email in a professional and timely manner
  • Receive and organize documents, generate reports, review and submit to clients
  • Improve systems, and processes to upgrade operational efficiency
  • Develop new business relationships with third parties

Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience required
  • CA/CPA Designation
  • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of various programs and applications within an office setting
  • Able to perform the following task independently
    • Incorporation and Dissolution
    • Business Registration
    • Accounting/Bookkeeping
    • Annual Resolutions
    • Notice to Reader
    • Financial Statements
    • HST Returns, Regular and Quick Method
    • Payroll, T4, T4A, T5
    • Annual Return with Corporation Canada and Ontario ONe-Key
    • Tax Preparation
      • T1, Self-employed, Immigrant/Emigrant, Rental Income, Foreign Investment Employment Expenses, T5008 and any other type of tax returns

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of taxes and financial services
